Who Rescued Who? - Limited Edition Linoprint

This print is inspired by the unique bond between rescue dogs and their rescuers.

"I love hearing rescue dog stories and I am endlessly intrigued by the connection between people and their dogs, but there’s something very special about people who take the plunge and let a rescue dog into their lives."

It’s a great leap of faith for both dog and human to give a previously unwanted or mistreated dog a chance of a safe and happy home. The love and trust of any dog is a huge privilege for a human to be given, but the loyalty of a rescue dog who has been given a second chance at happiness is a particularly poignant and treasured gift.

In offering us their devotion, a dog unwittingly gives us so much more… filling our lives with laughter with their funny habits and hilarious antics, getting us out and about and away from work and screens and being an unwavering friend through thick and thin.

How this print was made

This print is a 2 block reduction linoprint hand-printed on Japanese Awagami Bunkoshi paper on an etching press.

There are 130 prints in the edition and each one is individually signed and numbered.

The reduction (or suicide) method of printmaking uses a single linoleum plate to make a multi-coloured print. A single plate was used for the sky and background colour. The sky was printed first and then it was cut away, leaving the background of the scene to be printed next. Cutting away the plate destroys the lino which means it cannot be re-printed. A second plate was carved for the darker coloured detail and this was printed in a third layer.
