Terry Abraham

His love and passion for the fells is second to none and much like the late legendary author Alfred Wainwright, Terry has carved a career for himself sharing the joys of the Lake District through visual media to widespread critical acclaim. Whilst appearing numerous times on TV and radio including BBC's Countryfile, Terry often shies away from the media preferring instead to spend his time alone outdoors but always forthcoming when sharing the beauty of Cumbria, representing local charities or being a campaigning voice on matters concerning our national parks. After almost a decade, ‘Life of a Mountain: Helvellyn’ (2020) marks the close of Abraham’s labour of love documenting iconic Lakeland fells and within this collection of prints he hopes to inspire both newcomers and visitors alike to the beauty of Lakeland.

Renowned for capturing the authenticity, light and drama about the Lake District National Park through the seasons, Terry often publicly says, “At a given time, on a given day, in a certain season and if the weather is suitable; such scenes I seek to capture on film can be enjoyed by anyone if they make the effort. This is the real deal and for me is food for the soul.” Consequently, several images here feature in Abraham’s documentaries and for the first time are available to all to take a small piece of the Lake District into their homes.

Critics Reviews of Terry’s work: "From its first moments of mists rolling through the mountain tops this documentary is a Wordsworthian hymn to nature and a eulogy to humanity. Abraham has made a film of great beauty but no solemnity." The Times "This is a moving, poetic film...a vivid portrait with gorgeous photography. A celebration which exudes gladness." The Observer "...one of those plain and simple, knock 'em dead nature documentaries...a complete delight." Radio Times "With its sweeping cinematography and sonorous score, there's a touch of the art-house classic Koyaanisqati about this enchanting documentary. Superb." The Guardian
