Hand Sculpted Robins by Jess Davids Glass
Hand sculpted blown glass robin. An oxygen-rich flame is used on the surface of the glass to cause a reaction turning the colour golden. Approximately 5cm tall and 8cm long, from nose to tail. Exact measurements vary from piece to piece due to the nature in which they are made.
Jess Davids is a designer-maker, specialising in Glassblowing. She studied Design Crafts at De Montfort University and graduated in 2018. The University then invited her to become an Artist in Residence, where she had the opportunity to work with and mentor students as well as continuing to develop her own work. Since finishing her residency, she has moved back to Manchester and now sells her work at Contemporary Crafts Shows and Markets across the country.
Jess is often inspired by her travels and is drawn to the natural world. This can be seen in the designs of her pieces as well as the organic shapes she creates. She enjoys combining techniques and exploring how form impacts design.
