Day 11 of Mrs H’s Social Media Detox - It's all about The Boat House & Faye Waterlow!
I said I'll tell you all about POP-UP @ The Boat House in my next blog so ta da...
I have always admired entrepreneurs and the risks they are willing to take to make something work - I see myself as one although keeping below the radar at the moment - too many people don't give entrepreneurs enough credit - I always will.
What makes a good entrepreneur, well lots of things but here's a few attributes that I believe are a must:- passion, vision, motivation, determination, decisiveness, discipline, adaptability, honesty, leadership and of course a little bit of madness...
Meet Faye Waterlow! A talented watercolour artist and budding entrepreneur! She's taken the lovely Boat House in Brodick and turned it into a pop-up gallery housing Arran based artists and makers, ones that aren't already represented on the island.
OPEN Monday - Saturday 11am -4pm
We were talking at a local Walking & Wheels environmental event back in November and she mentioned she was in need of a shop counter for her pop-up, I said I had just the thing back at Zak the Collie Dog HQ, the counter from Cherrydidi Keswick!
She popped over to collect the counter (and squeezed it into her car with the help of the supportive husband, doesn't every female entrepreneur have a partner in crime that works tirelessly behind the scenes with very little thanks?!), along with a couple of other useful display items, I even leant her our lovely wooden-box till with the tingling bell, it warmed my heart to think these items were helping someone else set up their outlet.
She suggested Zak the Collie Dog joined the pop-up, so Mr H & I pulled together the collection and have restocked several times over the last few weeks. It's lovely to see Zak the Collie Dog & Co spreading his wings.
Here's a list of everyone Faye is supporting - the quality is as good as the artists at Cherrydidi hence we were super keen to be involved... we hope to list a number of these on 'The Cherrydidi Online Shop' over the coming weeks...we'll feature every artist/maker as we add them:

If you're around, do pop up in, it's opposite the small Coop in Brodick, you can't miss it as the wooden Zak the Collie Dog from Cherrydidi Ambleside sits at the entrance to welcome you in!
I love Faye's tag line 'Come for the Art, stay for the chat' and every time I have popped in I can't get away for the chatting, it's lovely to be amongst creative people again!
Congratulations Faye in pulling this off - everyone massively appreciates you and the risks you're taking! The customers seem very happy too.
That's it from me until next time.
