Fiona Robertson Art
Fiona Robertson is a textile artist, specialising in machine and hand embroidered landscapes. Fiona originally studied Fine Art at The Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. She was awarded the Elisabeth Greenshield Foundation Award for her figurative painting and ran a successful portrait painting business before training as a teacher. Fiona has worked as Head of Art and as an Assistant Headteacher in a number of Secondary Schools before recently taking the decision to focus on her artwork.
Fiona’s passion for textiles has evolved through many years of experimenting with techniques before finding her own voice.
Through her embroidery she evokes an emotional response to the seasonal rhythms of the landscape. Her work is highly textured and has a dimensional quality that is the result of many layers of fabrics and fibres, machine stitched together to form a base layer for her intricate hand stitching.
Each embroidery takes weeks of work to complete.
Fiona has many collectors of her work in the UK and further afield throughout the USA, Canada and mainland Europe. As well as leading workshops she is also open to commissions.
