Sam Martin Art
I'm a self taught artist who loves being in the great outdoors. I walk every day and this is where the inspiration for most of my work comes from. Through my love of the countryside and walking, I see the landscape in blocks of colour and this is reflected in my paintings. A few of my favourite projects have been to paint a full wall mural for Elterwater hostel in the Lake District and to take part in the Go Herdwick trail, for which I painted a life size Herdwick Ewe and lamb for The Calvert Trust in the Lake District. My favourite places are The Lake District, the west coast of Scotland (I haven't explored the east yet) and Llyn Peninsula in Wales. Many of my paintings are from the summits of fells or mountains I've walked with my family.
I mainly work on boxed canvas in all sizes and use a high quality emulsion along with acrylic paints to create my work. All my paintings are signed, painted around the sides and varnished for protection, they are ready to hang on the wall. All work is my own and all paintings, even if they are of the same place, are original.
