$16.00

To celebrate Cherrydidi's 10th birthday we have created the 'Union Zak' Mug - Cherrydidi EST. 2012.

We have had a limited number printed so get in quick! (pls note the design is on both sides of the mug)

Zak's china mugs are made by Staffordshire based Duchess China who have been manufacturing Fine Bone China products for over hundred years so they are outstanding quality. They have been hand-decorated by Edwardian China, also Staffordshire based and are dishwasher & microwave safe.

Large - Ideal For the perfect cup of tea The large mugs hold 350mls and are 8.91cms tall.

CHERRYDIDI is 10 YEARS OLD this month (July 2022) - Cherrydidi is the brainchild of Jean and Ade Harmer, building on Jean's background in social enterprise: including running an eco-travel business in Nepal and supporting women to get a start in selling their own homemade products. Through delivering business start-up programmes in rural Cumbria, Ghana and India a project called 'Trade in Action' brought five Cumbrian and five Ghanaian small creative businesses together, from this Cherrydidi was born.

'Didi' is a term of respectfulness given to older women in Nepal. 'Cherry' was chosen after a gift of cherries from Ade to Jean.

The first Cherrydidi shop opened in Priest's Mill, Caldbeck, in 2012, with a focus on helping artists and makers from across Cumbria and beyond, to start up their own businesses and grow sustainable careers, with their brilliant and individual talents at the centre.

We moved to Keswick in 2014 and opened a second shop in Ambleside in 2018. We remain proud to provide beautiful and ethically-minded products to customers old and new. We continue to champion start-up arts and crafts businesses, offering them not only a space to sell their work, but also commercial wisdom and support.

And of course Cherrydidi is home to the one and only Zak the Collie Dog, plus Jesse Dog and Jack the Lad!

Zak the Collie Dog was born on a smallholding in Glenshee, and brought to Cumbria as a pup, to live with Jean and Ade. When Zak was three years old, his humans started a shop, and Zak graduated into the new role of 'Shop Dog!'

Zak excelled in every way, greeting the public with his unparalleled charm, and generally brightening the shop with his outstanding beauty.

Ade came up with the idea of using Zak as a mascot, to raise money for charities working with dogs. He designed a logo based in Zak's striking ying-yang markings.

At the time of writing, the Zak range has raised over £13,000 for the Lake District Search Dogs and ehe Border Collie Trust.

We know Zak was very dear to so many folk.

When Zak passed over, in April 2021, we asked ourselves what was next for his brand. It quickly became clear that people didn't want to forget Zak, and that they wanted to continue celebrating his life and all it meant, to so many people (and dogs!)
